The Ruby Mountains are a mountain range located mainly in Elko County, Nevada, United States. The name ‘Ruby’ is taken from the garnets found by early explorers. The central core of the range shows extensive evidence of glaciation during the last ice ages. The glaciers carved out basins that are now alpine lakes. A larger concentration of these is found in the central core of the range.
